Winter dayz…
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I lllooovvveee winter! And by love I mean would rather stab in the side of the leg with a blunt spoon and gouge out my knee cap. Love it that much. It is always a tough time of each year for me and as I get older it just seems to get worse! I don’t know why but I just love the warmth and summer so much that it really hits me.
It sucks on multiple levels. One of the worse being at work. We get barista hands/fingers. Nice little slits in the sides of our fingers that seem innocent but every time you bump them it feels like being shivved with a knife. Its crap. The dry lips, having to wear a shirt when I run, limited daylight, not sweating and my feet being freezing all are ridiculous. We live in Queensland for a reason….sunshine, long days and good vibes. It's not England for goodness sake.
Ok, so I am being dramatic. I like to think I am a pretty reasonable person and not usually dramatic but in winter, I am. Im ok with that! I know this is like the most trivial, nonsense thing but hay, Im pretty footloose and fancy free and not much bothers me. So, when I have a whine, I have a whine! Anyway, enough of that bollocks. Winter suck (unless there is snow and you can actually enjoy seasons) and that’s that.
Unrelated, last weekend we had a crew meeting which was fun. There has been some shift arounds and changes to the boys attendance but all is good. Im super stoked with the guys in my corner and the memories we are going to create on a little jaunt across the country. Slowly but surely.
Training is also ramping more and more and I am still enjoying it! I did a five hour run in the morning Monday followed by a half hour walk/eat at lunch time and an hour run with efforts following. Today I did a six hour run in the morning with a half hour walk/eat at lunch. Whilst I have some ‘rest/active movement’ days at the moment, the volume is there and only getting bigger. Lets do this. Getting Luca on board has been one of the best things I have done and together I will be ready to crush come September.
Outside of this, all else is cruising along. An update from a couple weeks ago, mum is still not well but hopefully getting the help she needs to get better. Dad has been walking and resting which is good. He seems to be pretty solid and sees the specialist again on the 20th. Here’s hoping he gets the green light to start running again soon.
Otherwise, life is rocking. Im stoked to be alive, loving the process and just turning up each and every day to do my best and complete what is put before me. Its all I can do! Consistency + Commitment. Much love friends. Have a rad week and Ill write ya in the next seven.
