I'M BACK!

ITS BEEN A MINUTE!!!!  A VERY LONG MINUTE!

But, I’m back!  I don't really even know where to start…or where I left off for that matter!  But lets see if I can catch up.  It looks as though my last blog was mid 2018?!  What the heck!

So, since then, I have recovered from all the chronic injury I was dealing with.  Run a heap of shorter ultra/non-ultra races, finished Ultraman 2019, travelled to and finished (in 99th out of nearly 900 runners) the Leadville 100miler in Colorado.  I have run two other 100milers, trained a HEAP (I’m set for my biggest year EVER and should end up with 6-6500km this year), COVID has made a lot of peoples lives challenging and forced us to bunker down in our own regions.  We have been super blessed and been smashed at the shop so there has also been a lot of working amongst family life and coaching.  Basically, life has been bloody busy but I’m back!

I have decided finally to take a day off a week to focus on coaching clients (which I have a nice crew of now but if you would like coaching, shoot me an email!), to do a weekly blog and also to start serious preparation for my Run Across Australia.  Oh, I failed to mention that!  On 22/9/22 I will be running from the Western most to the Eastern most point of Australia.  100km per day for 50days!  I am doing two lead up practice events including a marathon a day for 50days next year, whilst working and trying to manage family life.  Will be HECTIC!  And I am currently in the process of doing a half marathon a day for 100days, currently on day 35.

This is set to be my running legacy and what I hope and pray will really launch things next level for me.  I intend to write a book after it and hope many more opportunities will open up as a result of the journey.  Time shall tell.

All in all, life is so good!  As I mentioned, running a business, family life, a bunch of training and everything else is manic at times.  Management of time is integral and so important to get everything done!  I seem to be pretty reasonable at that!

So, all that aside, I am stoked to be back writing and contributing to some longer form musings.  To be honest, I have been really encouraged by my good friend Tim who has started at my first blog (maybe 2012??) and is working his way through!  Impressive!  So thanks for the gentle push Tim!

I look forward to sharing with you all along the way, expressing myself in this format that I really enjoy and my wish is that you will be encouraged to do more adventuring, chase your dreams and change the world around you…one person at a time.  Thanks for sticking by me, much love and well chat again soon.

Mat

PS – If you would like to read a piece I wrote lately about my recent 100miler, check out the below link.  I’m pretty proud of it.  Also, if you have any friends who might get something out of my writing, please get them to subscribe so they can get new blogs when I post.  Bless.
