What a week
What a week! Man alive! It seems like it has been a fair whirlwind but I’m getting there, one day at a time.
I have been in the final stages of my prep for UTA 100km race in the Blue Mountains in nine days time. I have been battling a bit of a cold and have had to have a day off from training here and there to stay healthy. Not ideal but it is what it is. Having the sniffles sucks and I look forward to kicking that sooner rather than later! I seem to be on the other side here’s hoping.
The big news of the week however is that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights we had world renown artist Steen Jones at The Journey painting the outside walls. I seemed to be pretty much living at the shop….working, heading home for a bit and then heading back to the shop to watch the progress. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of his calibre and skill beautify the shop and it was an experience I will never forget. Friendships made forever. Steen and his friend May were super lovely, down to earth, chill and super rad. I’m sure you will agree the result is nothing short of incredible! Keep an eye on The Journey Bargara Instagram for more photos and an upcoming video by Ando shot during the painting.
The other left of centre thing that occurred this week is that yesterday, I stacked it running. Ugh. I had a headlamp on my head….not turned on….relying on the moonlight and day dreaming. Next minute, I hit a speed-bump and I’m on the ground. WHY!? I ripped a big hole in my hand (which was ALMOST healed from my Wildhorse stack) and took skin off my elbow and knees. My knees (particularly my right one) proceeded to then swell up through the day and now, pretty swoll. I managed my last longish run this morning (20k) but swelling is still there. I am sure that over the next few days leading up to the race the swelling will reside and all issues will sort themselves out but man, bad timing. The worst thing out of it all though is my hand…..it sucks being a barista and trying to work with a hole in your palm. Anyways, onward I battle!
So, yeah. What a week. Just finally, to top it off, I just read that there has been a COVID case in Sydney……I am trying not to get ancy but I NEED A holiday, I am really looking forward to UTA and they better not lock that crap down! Ugh! We’ll see I guess.
Anyways, onward and upward! Here’s to a rad week ahead, much positivity, some extra sleep through my taper and hopefully, a sub 14hr performance at UTA! BOOM! Come on Silver Buckle! Much love friends, have a super week. Peace.
