Holidays

Sandy Cape Lighthouse Lookout

Lets just start by saying that I love my job.  Creating The Journey and getting to go there every day, hang with our family and make delicious beverages is what I enjoy most.  It truly is a special environment and nearly never feels like ‘work’.  It’s just going to a place to hang every day.  The way work should be!  Enjoyable!

However, in saying this, there is nothing quite like HOLIDAYS!  Most people work hard, not enjoying the present, just reaching and hoping for the weekend or their next break away from the mundane.  I am in the unique position in that I actually miss our Journey community when I am not there.  It really is that great.  But when I get a chance to go away with the family, truly relax, check out cool cafes, explore and be in nature it is SO lovely.

Currently, we are on our way down to The Blue Mountains to run UTA 100.  It has been 10years since dad and I ran it last, being one of our first ultras and certainly our first major one, and we are both back, a decade on to crush it once again.  The family and I have stopped for a few days in South West Rocks to hang with Tegs family and it is BEAUTIFUL!  What the heck?  I am astounded by how special this place is.  I could 100% live here without question!  The bay, nature, community, trails, proper hills and vibe is wonderful.  I really love it here and feel energised by the surroundings I find myself in.

I would love to have some more time to explore here but tomorrow we move on….to another ridiculously epic place, the Blue Mountains.  When we were there last, I fell in love with Katoomba and I hope to have the same experience this time around.  I look forward to relaxing by a fire, cosying up in some cafes and continuing to focus on a sub 14hour finish at UTA.  Its gonna be an amazing journey!

I am so very thankful that we have such a good team of staff that I trust to hold the fort and run things at The Journey while we are away.  Not many business owners are in that position and I am truly grateful for the situation I am in.  Building a good team, having solid relationship with staff and not having to worry that things will get done while I am away is so good.  Much love to Jess, Kirra, Britt and Georgia for getting it done while I am AWOL.

So, holidays are fantastic.  I love unwinding for a minute, getting some extra rest, not being on a time schedule and just going with the flow.  By the end of the break though, I am really missing my people at the shop.  I am always ready to return, crush it every day and then look forward to, but not long for, my next little break away.  Such a super way to exist I think anyway.

I hope this finds you happy, enjoying each day as special as it is and working hard to be able to chill and relish your next break or weekend off.  Treasure each day as everyone is a gift….working or not.  Much love friends.  Have a ripper!
