Training

So, I guess I had better catch y’all up with what is going on training wise. In the lead up to Laverado it was a bit of a mess. Battling injury and not really being able to do a whole lot really sucked. Since returning to running (and letting my tattoo heal) it has been a slow build initially and then four and a half weeks ago, I got back into some good flow.

For a number of years now, I have been preaching the consistency message. It is the basis and foundation for all things endurance related. It has been super difficult and really affected me mentally that I have not been able to execute on my message since returning from Western Australia (although my build for Noosa Ultra Trail was not too bad). So. My only goal getting back to training has been return to consistency….and maybe a couple races thrown in too!

The basic plan that started on the 10th of July was this…for four weeks, AVERAGE 100k a week. For the next four weeks, AVERAGE 125k a week, then for four weeks, AVERAGE 150k per week then for four weeks AVERAGE 175k a week. Now, there will be some ups and downs in there with me getting tattooed a couple times, tapering and returning from races, but the plan is to AVERAGE these numbers for the next four months. Simple to put to paper but vital to execute.

I have also started doing some speed work and it really has helped with my leg turnover in general. My long runs have certainly benefited too. These have been solid too.

I am looking to do Glasshouse 100miler in September and either Coast 2 Kosci or Kosciusko Ultra Trail 100miler. So, some solid races thrown in there too.

All in all, things are rolling super nicely at the moment. It REALLY, I cant emphasis enough how it REALLY feels good to be back training consistently and putting in the work. This is my happy place and what I have built myself to do. So, here’s to many more good ks ahead along with some fun adventures to boot.

I hope and trust your training is going well also and if any of you need coaching (or know someone who does) remember that is also my jam! Much love friends. Consistency + Commitment.
