The ol’ stop start…

Well, if I am completely honest, I am fairly frustrated in the lead up/last few weeks of preparation for my next race, a 100mile mountain adventure in Japan. There have been a number of fits and starts and it is pretty darn annoying. Sickness, a little calf tightness, super low energy/tiredness. Maybe these have all been an over-reaction but it has been super annoying none the less.

Shinetsu Five Mountains trail is only five and a half weeks away. Now, to be completely transparent, if I had to do the race tomorrow, I believe I would be able to get it done. BUT, that is not the way I like to train or prepare for an event. I want to be SUPER fit and mentally prepared. For me, this means a lot of k’s done and for this race, a lot of climbing under the belt. So. Its time to stop with the excuses. Its time to buckle down and put some work in before the big dance. A Japanese ultra and importantly to me, also a Western States qualifier.

So, a block is coming. I was hoping to start it this week but as mentioned, I just haven’t felt ‘right’. So, I will be ramping up the rest of the week and then hitting it hard and solid for a month from Monday. Consistency, like always is the name of the game. I look forward to challenging myself, working hard and getting to the start line in the best shape I can be. Here’s to it! RIP IN!

As an additional side point to this weeks blog, man I love the Olympics. Like, LOVE them! As usual there has been a bit of controversy but that’s kinda part and parcel for a world event like this. On the whole though, I just love watching random sports but always froth my favorite, track and field. It has been fascinating, inspiring and just super entertaining. The whole family has gotten into it which has made it even better. I can’t wait to watch the rest and see what human beings are capable at their peek. Heres to it.

So, all in all, things are cruising along. Back from Townsville, back to work and now, back to the grind of training. I look forward to updating you all soon enough as to the progress and performance to come.

Much love yall. Consistency+Commitment
