Chasing it
Friends!
How goes it?! So, turns out I missed blogging last week and I didn’t even realise until like Monday! It was a hectic week working, getting ready to go away and then hitting Melbourne like a boss! We were so jammed packed with activities, I completely forgot to write! So it goes! This week hasn’t been a whole lot better craziness wise but here we are!
Soo, Melbourne! We usually try and get down once or twice a year to check out the coffee and cafe scene. We also have a couple of tattooists down there we visit so its always good times. We also had flight credit to use from like two years ago so it was a good excuse to take a trip! This time would be a little different with the whole family going (not just Tegs and I) so it was set for some fun!
Now, before I start on this I need to say, when you go from spending little sections of time with your whole family to spending all day and night with the family, it takes some adjustment. So, the first couple days were a little up and down. We drove to Brisbane, stayed with my mate Brad and then went to the airport early Wednesday. We flew down, found our way to our Airbnb and then set out adventuring. Its was a little wild with us being super distracted due to car hire issues and the kids being over excited. All good though! It was just good to be in Melbourne!
After getting the heating sorted in our room and a three hour run the next morning it was off to Castlemaine to visit our friend Leonie to get tattooed. It was such a nice day (with the kids still adjusting!) but Tegs and I both got some sweet tattoos and it was a cool day out with some awesome dinner after. The next couple days saw some shopping, wandering and lots of good coffee and food. One of the highlights was going to the AFL to see Essendon and Sydney play. We nearly didn’t get in due to unknown by me ‘dress codes’ for the members area! After some phone calls with the guy that got us free tickets and a bit of mucking around, he got me a collar and non ripped pants and we were in! The girls really enjoyed it and was cool to see them getting into the game! Good fun!
The rest of the trip was super nice, cold but nice. The running was good but a little frustrating getting lost and being too cold to try and use mapping. Not easy getting out in frost and 4deg but got my sessions done! The highlights of the trip for me was a Barkley Marathons book I found in a super nice book shop and the Japanese dinner we had at Neko Neko. Also returning to my all time favourite coffee shop Patricias and the interactions I had with so many beautiful people during the trip. City people are fun and there is so much variety!
Training wise, things are going awesome. Apart from a few little niggles, which I am staying on top of, we are rolling and the days are getting long! The last two weeks I have done 215k and 210k and this week should be over 220k. I have knocked off a couple seven hour days now and the volume is upon me. I have to admit I am finding it hard fitting all other life things in but I am doing my best and trying not to get overwhelmed. Not always easy though.
I am incredibly grateful to my family, work team, friends and crew for enabling me to take on this challenge and do what I need to do to get it done! Very grateful. Without their understanding and support it would not be able to happen. Thanks guys!
So, all in all things are going well. I need to be eating much more food but apart from that the body, head and heart are strong. I am, everyday preparing for battle and excited for the challenges ahead. One session at a time!
Thank you all for being interested in what I do, sending love and support and generally being awesome! Have a rad weekend and rest of school holidays and Ill catch you next week!
Much love. Consistency + Commitment
