Burnin hot

9/7 – Holidays are meant to be a time of relaxing and chilling out right?  Well, Tegs and I are currently on our way back from Melbourne after four days without the kids and it has been anything but!  Thanks so much to my mum and dad for having the girls!  We have had an incredible time but lets just say when it comes to holidays, like pretty much everything in my life, I don't do the normal! I love visiting Melbourne. It is an incredible place to go (apart from the weather), to eat, drink coffee and enjoy.  BUT, regardless, when you're an athlete, training for events, you can’t jut stop!  Well, I guess you could but it probably wouldn't be the best idea!  So, during the time away, I managed to rack up over 90k of running and a heap more walking around the city and suburbs.  Love it!  Running is also a great way to explore and see areas you might not normally. In saying this, it’s not always easy.  We were there for a friends 40thand, unlike most of the crew down for the occasion, drinking and late nights are not my friends!  I enjoy early mornings, getting to bed at a decent hour and not drinking.  Fortunately, this didn't cause much of an issue as everyone was understanding and we manage to fall into a good routine of enjoying the others company but still having some time together and getting to bed not too late.  Blessed. So, needless to say, training is going well thus far and with a little 50k race three weeks out, I am feeling pretty solid.  The wheels are turning well and it should be a burner. I am so grateful to my parents and the girls at the shop for making weekends like this a possibility. Thanks guys…..it was a much needed little escape. I hope this finds you all well and loving life.  Chase the dream and remember, next time your on holidays, if you have a goal your working toward, don't put off the training you need to do to be as ready as you can be for your big day!  Keep burning it hot friends.  Big love, Mat.
