Taper Week.
11/6 – What is happening friends? Hope this finds you all well, training hard and loving life. The last couple weeks has seen a bit of a mixed bag as far as training goes but all in all, still solid. We were all hit with a case of the sicks, so that wiped us out for a bit. I have got some solid long runs in (including Noosa National Park where I fell on THE SAME KNEE for the third time) and also some good longer speed work. I am now well and truly in taper mode, getting ready for Brisbane Valley Rail Trail on Saturday. I have mixed feelings going into this race. I feel like I have trained well, however my diet and lifestyle (stress etc) hasn’t been even close to as good as it was leading up to DU135. In saying that, training has been solid, I have got extra pace in my legs I don't usually have and I am really looking forward to racing 100miles again. The course will be beautiful (the old train line from Ipswich to Yarraman) and the challenge of covering 161km by foot is something I always look forward to! I would love to be a few kilos lighter, have fuelled my body better and had a few extra weeks training behind me, but it is what it is. I am as ready as I am and that is perfect for this time round. The human body is an incredible creation and built to run so I know it will serve me well come race day. It is always a blessing to be able to move through a training block without any major issues. I have had a few minor twinges but all in all, I am healthy and ready to run. I am going to have my good mates, Kevi and Ando crew for me, which will be super fun, and it will be great to meet up with some old friends and meet some new ones at an event in QLD. It’s been a while! If I’m truthful, I’m not looking forward to low single digits in temperatures but running is running and it will be fun none the less! Im super looking forward to reporting back in next week with an adventurous race report of how it all went. Otherwise, all is going well. The shop has been ticking along not too badly and family are all well now old mate sick has left us. Thank goodness! I hope an pray this finds you all super well and enjoying winter for me (cause I sure as heck DON'T!). Keep smiling, chase your own adventure this week and I hope to chat to you all soon. Peace out, Sandy.
