Another one down.
28/5 – This week has been another good one, with some solid training and just a minor hiccup yesterday to round out the seven days. With only three weeks until race day, I NEED to be ripping in!! I am training super strong at the moment, including getting some speed back in these legs, but lets just say I learnt that doing speed work the day before a long run was not the best idea! On a scheduled 45k outing yesterday, I got about 22k in and my left Achilles completely jacked up. That then resulted in a hobble run/walk home and not the nicest feeling leg the rest of the day. It will all be good and obviously just inflamed from Saturdays speed work but it still sucked. I still managed to knock out 34k and over 140k week of running so perspective needs to be kept! I am super pumped to be getting back to racing in a few weeks and it seems like FOREVER since I have lined up at my favourite distance, the 100miler! The race is on the old Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and is a point to point from Ipswich to Yarraman! Pretty darn rad I reckon. The reason for the speed returning is that this race is going to involve a LOT of running. There is pretty much no climbing (apart from a few small pinches in the back end) and will involve a lot of shuffling. A completely different race to what I am usually used to but will be a lot of fun. With my buddies Ando and Kevi (and maybe Tim) crewing for me, it is sure to be a good laugh too. Aside from training and racing, I have also had a coaching client, Jen crush her first half marathon at Noosa. SUPER big congratulations JEN! You're a rockstar! A post about her achievements sparked an email from another potential client in Melbourne which I was super excited to get. This reminded me, to remind others that I am still coaching and love it! If any of you need, or know someone who would like a running coach, please shoot them my details! Thanks and yes! Anyway friends, I hope your week has started incredibly and you have some exciting adventures ahead. Big love and catch ya next week!
