Proper

3/8- Monday past marked six weeks out from Glasshouse 100miler....and the start of my training proper.  I have been laying/maintaining some level of base fitness through riding and a small amount of running but it is time to get into it!For those following along, my training for this years edition of the race is taking a very different approach.  As I am returning from injury, there will be no bulk milage on the legs but a combination of riding and running.  I have decided to include my training here for the next six for those not following me on Strava.  Because of the day I blog, it will be Thursday to Wednesday...sorry for the confusion.  It might give a little insight to the variation in efforts I am performing this time round.I am so excited about this years race.  I have had many cautious comments and some straight out negativity but I have confidence in myself that I can get this job done.  I am doing my best to be patient with my groin and supplementing with the bike.  I have been the most patient with an injury I have ever been and my head is in a good place, completely focused on covering every 161km step of the trail come the 9th of September.  Anyone in the ultra game knows full well that mental fortitude and positivity is the number one thing you need.  The space between the ears is where a race can be won or done.  That area, at this point in time is squarely fixed on 100miles.So, I have developed a training plan leading up to the race.  It includes some decent volume but as I mentioned, leaning toward some caution to allow full rest and recovery of not only my injury but my legs getting used to the pounding of running again. Thanks to everyone who has offered kind, encouraging words.  This life is an adventure and the next six weeks is just another chapter in that journey.  Much love friends.Note - Keep in mind, my bike is a Trek7.2 commuter.  It aint no fast roadie so it takes some grunt to move.....all good for leg strength!Monday - 2.5hrs bike (59.2km)Tuesday - 5k runWednesday - 4hrs bike (94.4km)Thursday - 7k run
