One of the unit kids taking selfies on my phone...pre-teening at its finest!

Sunday was Fathers Day.  I love it, and always walk with my head held a little higher this day every year.  I’m proud to be a dad to two beautiful girls and stoked I have such a great relationship with my dad.  I know I make about four million mistakes as a dad every day but I feel like I do a decent job at least.  Well, I try my hardest anyways!

This Fathers Day, I found out there was a duathlon being put on by the Bargara Tri Club.  I hadn’t done one before and always love doing stuff like this with the girls so we signed up and we were on!  I had to get k’s in, so I did a snappy 10k prior to the race (R1).  I then met the girls and we rode down to the start (B1).  After some chats, laughs and fun we were off.  This was to be Tegans first official event after nearly two years off with her back injury so it was a significant day.  I planned on staying with her and seeing what the girls did.

From the beginning, Pria was off with a friend and crushed it.  She really did a super job.  Ol mate (Corle) took off on the first run portion (R2 – 2.5km) and we didn't catch her.  We then jumped on our bikes and head off on the 9k loop (B2).  We really did look the sight.  Tegs on her beach cruiser and me on my wide handlebared gravel bike.  Good times.  After catching Ol mate who was by the side of the road crying as she thought she was lost and didn't know where to go, we continued on and finished the bike in style.

After a short transition, we head off on the second run (R3 – 2.5k) and Ol mate faded hard.  We caught up to her again and encouraged her along.  We got to the finish (after some tears from Corle) and completed the fun event.  After a short ride home (B3) we were stoked and celebrated with coffee and pancakes.  A super awesome day.

I love doing stuff like this.  Family fun, chill environment and activity for all.  I’m super proud of the little girls for getting the job done and Tegs for crushing her first event back.  All in all, a super nice family day out and I am super grateful to my crew for doing stuff like this with me on Dads Day.  Super rad.

Aside from this its all happening.  Two weeks till my 50marathons kick off (HELP!), more on that next week, we get the keys to our second location, new coffee shop Friday, I just got a package from Willpower Running and a new sponsor Bondi Organics so its all on!  Yes and Yes.

I trust this finds you well and winning this week!  Keep pondering and finalising your 50day challenges and next week we’ll go over it all in more detail!  Much love friends.
