Easter
This last weekend was Easter. I can not believe it has come around already, gone again and we charge forward toward three more short weeks. What the actual heck?! This time of year is crazy! The shops were hectic, Sunday was lovely having the day off with the family and much fun was had by all. We also had a super sweet ‘random friends’ Easter party at our house which was rad. There’s not much I love more than getting people together to eat good food and chill out together! These school holidays have been really enjoyable but with the kids back at school today, it is nice to have some quiet. Love them and love you!
Training is going very very well also. With volume ever so slowly increasing, I am enjoying the ‘training all times of the day’ method and also ‘eating while hiking’….practicing food I am going to be eating on the run. I am also now four weeks into doing strength work and while it is pretty darn hard for me, I am also enjoying that new challenge. All good things!
One downer is that I have a bit of a cold currently. I reckon it should disappear pretty quick but it sucks. I don’t like feeling 100% that’s for sure. With a sore throat and sniffles, I shall battle on. Just hoping I sleep a bit better tonight! Usually these things come and go super quick for me so Im not panicking too much. Will smash on!
On the sponsor front there has been a cool development this week. I have gained the services of Brady at Healthy Lifestyles Australia. He is a dietitian and exercise physiologist with a whole heap of other letters after his name I don’t really understand! He is going to be working with me in relation to my fuelling (food and liquids) in the lead up to the event and also during the run. Having spoken to a couple of other guys who have run across/around Australia, they have all outlined the fact that having a dietitian on board is integral! Working with Josiah, the GP coming on the run, together they will have my intake/output sorted to sustain me on this mammoth effort. Super pumped to have him on board that’s for sure!
So, really, apart from the madness of public holidays and Easter, all things are pretty normal this week. We have some other side hustles currently on the go too which is super exciting. I was only saying to Tegs yesterday that life at the moment really is incredibly good and exciting. I feel so happy with how things are currently. I am taking some active steps to try and do The Journey better, our other learnings/investments and training/logistics/planing of the big run and the family is going great. Life is so good! Every day at the moment just seems so cool and a fun challenge that its hard not to just be present.
I hope and pray you all had a rad Easter and that you were able to take a moment to remember the death and raising of Jesus we take time to over the long weekend. The real reason for a few days off work! Ill leave you with this cool quote a friend posted on social media. In the mean time, Consistency + Commitment.
Annual reminder that Jesus was a brown skinned, middle eastern, Jewish refugee who befriended sex workers, lower class citizens and the outsiders.
