Crossin Country…build and prep
Man, things are happening…moving and shaking that is for sure! With just over eight months till my X-Country Run, they had better be!
This week I put the word out for a potential coach and someone to help me with my training. I have been doing my own programs forever now but felt like I could do with some overseeing leading up to the main event. I have been fortunate enough to be put in touch with David Eadie who is an incredible runner in his own right (and married to Nikki Wynd who has won Badwater!) and helped David Alley in his lead up to and successful completion of breaking Pat Farmers record running AROUND the country! I could not have asked for anyone better! Im excited to see what Dave and I can conjure up.
On nearly the same day, an old school friend of mine put me in contact with an Elite Sports Psychologist. I have been toying with the idea of speaking to one of these also but had zero connections. Many elite sports teams and individuals taking on massive tasks these days employee the help of someone in this field for good reason. Although the physical aspect will be ginormous, the mental side of what I will be embarking on is next level! After over 60min on the phone and a cool chat, he is going to see if the project is something he can commit to and at what level. Awesome. Stay tuned for more on this!
Lastly, the first crew meeting has been called for the end of January. We will have one each month here on in to plan, prepare and figure out who will work where and when in the lead up to September 22nd. Also super exciting!
Outside of all this, things have been going pretty well. I have got some good running in (some not so good too after aggravating my foot on the trails on Sunday…all good now) and doing my best to get my head in the game, reenergised and ready for the next eight months, yes EIGHT months till I touch the Western Most Point of Australia and begin running. It is a daunting task but one I can not wait to tackle.
All in all, things are progressing nicely and life is good. I know I can always make improvements but one day at a time, I am trying to do better. Super rad.
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying January. Keep those goals and dreams in sight and crush on friends. Consistency + Commitment
Song of the week - Lorna Shore Bone Kingdom…..too heavy??? Not sure yet. Its pretty wild none the less!
