And...Thats a wrap!

2020…what a year!  It is one many will remember for all the negatives….bushfires, COVID and Black Lives Matters just to name a few.  Whilst these are absolutely terrible occurrences, there certainly has been a lot of positives to come out of the year.  Time with family, reading, exploring locally, saving money and perhaps even perspective on what is truly important in life.

For me, 2020 has surly been a disappointment due to the fact that we haven’t been able to travel and it has been super stressful in the shop at times, but amidst all that, a lot of the year has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Due to the occurrences above, we have been able to pay extra off our mortgage as we haven’t been travelling, the shop has boomed for a number of reasons, we moved into our dream home and on a personal level, I have run the most consistent and the largest number of kilometres than ever before.  Below are the hard facts:

Just under 6400km for the year.

Averaging just over 121km per week every week for the whole year.

164 visits to the Hummock…all run and none driven there.

Hares and Hounds 50k – 5th

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail – 100mile PB - 18hr 49min – 9th

Glasshouse 100miler – 6th

100 consecutive runs of a half marathon of more

So, it has been a solid year athletically and excellent base built for my run across Australia in 2022.  I have worked super hard, had many, many early mornings heading out into the dark to train on my own and had a few niggles.  I have been able to build a great team around me both in my ultra endurance events and at work.  I have been absolutely wrecked at times, heavy both mentally and emotionally, but overall I feel there are many positives for me personally to draw from the year.

Like most things in life, perspective and mentality play a vital roll in how we remember experiences but I hope that, as tough as it has been, 2020 will be able to provide some good memories for you, overriding the tough.  It certainly has been a wild ride but hay, that's life!  Humans are super resilient and we forge forward.

2021 has also started a little rough with COVID still lingering and causing disruption to many peoples lives.  We can only hope and pray that it will improve and things will return to the way they once were (with new perspective).  We only have one life and we need to be positive, strive forward with hope in our hearts and make the most of what is presented.  I aim to make 2021 a big year in many ways, but here are some athletically….

7000km plus run

Hares and Hounds, UTA100, BVRT 100miler, Maybe Glasshouse 100, 50days running a marathon a day and potentially a end of year ultra.

200 visits to the hummock

A heck of a lot of fun, laughs, good vibes and health in running and life in general.

Sending yall much love for the year ahead, lets crush it together and have a memorable one for all the RIGHT reasons.  Peace.
