Week 1
What a first week! To be honest, it was just a relief to get started! There was a lot of build up and I was just happy to get rolling last Wednesday. So far, I have ticked off eight marathons (well, seven, plus one 50k) and I am feeling not too bad. Honestly, I thought I would feel worse so it’s kinda good that I am not all that dead!
Each marathon has presented it’s own individual challenges however each one, special in its own way. I have had a lot of company that has really made the time fly by and also completed a few solo outings which at times has been really difficult on the mind. I am so grateful for the friends who have run with me but also want to remain cognisant and present to not rely on others to get the job done. I have to complete this challenge, no one can do it for me so I have to stay on my A-Game, other runners present or not.
The social media aspect has been super cool too. I have really enjoyed documenting my runs, talking to my phone and sharing with y’all how I am going, feeling and getting the job done. The feedback has been awesome as has the inspiring stories you have shared about your own 50day Challenges. It is super rad to hear about the big and little things everyone is doing to change their lives for the better this ‘almost two month’ period.
I have completed an interview for Bundaberg Now and also a radio chat with the forever-supportive crew at Triple M Bundy. Both organisations have been super supportive of any event or remotely interesting thing I have done to date so its tops to have them in my corner. Thanks for the love guys.
Outside of all this, my family and work crew have been great so far. It is so important to have those close to you in your corner when trying to achieve big events like these. Thank you guys for your love and support when I have been tired yet hopefully not too grumpy.
So, all in all, it has been a great start! There is obviously a long way to go yet and I have a LOT of ground to cover but the body is holding up pretty well and the mind is not too beaten yet. Thank you all for your backing thus far and lets keep riding this wave into the coming weeks. Much love friends.
