Precious moments
Yesterday, I experienced one of ‘those’ moments. I don't know if anyone else does or not but reasonably often, I have sections in a day where I am so happy I literally could cry. Whilst at work, it was drizzling rain, the morning had been fun, I had opportunity to chat to lovely people, Trevor Hall was playing and I just felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. Pure, simple, unadulterated joy. For no particular reason apart from the time and space I was residing in. How I long for these moments.
I guess this brings up the question as to weather these times are a product of happenstance or created by the incremental steps we take, minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day, manufacturing the life we live in. If we want to admit it or not, we ARE a product of our choices, environment, actions and the people we surround ourselves with. This in turn builds an existence of either joy and contentment or sadness and longing for more.
I desire moments like I felt yesterday. When the stars align and a space is created by design for an overflowing of emotion. The beauty that usually only unique occasions provide….a child being born, getting married, falling in love….if my landscape can be pruned and grown in a way that I receive a few of these moments every year, six months or month, I will receive them with an open heart.
How are they bestowed upon us and appear unexpectedly though? That I don't know. All I can encourage you to do however is to move toward joy, peace, forgiveness, contentment, beautiful relationship and people and experiences that will build your soul not batter it beyond recognition. We all have this within us and piece-by-piece, moment-by-moment, individually and collectively the hope is that we can all experience more of these precious gifts of happiness as I did yesterday. Lets toil unwaveringly to create a foundation upon which they can sprout. One by one until a beautiful forest is formed. It’s within us all that I know. We just need to find it….trust me, its there waiting. Go and work hard to get yours!
As a side….
This weekend is Brisbane Valley Rail Trail 100miler. I set my fastest time for that distance last year, coming in at 18hr 49min. The goal this year is to run faster, set a new PB and come in between 18hr-18hr 30min. I will be running hard with a solid couple boys crewing to do my absolute best over 100miles. I am fit, ready to rock, rested and keen to throw down. I look forward to reporting in next week as to how it all shakes down. Best of luck to dad, the guys I coach and everyone running in the event. Have fun, push yourself and get that result your chasing.
Much love friends. Have a rad week and Ill catch you next time round.
